7 Best Bathroom Faucets For Hard Water

Best Bathroom Faucets For Hard Water

A bathroom faucet is a piece of hardware required to operate a sink or basin in the bathroom. There are many different types of bathroom faucets available and all have slightly different functions.

They all share the purpose of turning water into a usable state for cleaning, bathing, rinsing off after swimming, etc. These can be used to refill a drink bottle, humidifier, or another water container from the tap.

For those who want to buy a bathroom faucet online, there are many different design options available and it can be difficult to decide what is best for one’s needs.

This article aims to help by outlining some of the main factors consumers should consider before buying such a product.

Bathroom faucets have undergone many changes and this versatility has led to a wide range of functionality available in the modern bathroom.

The main types of bathroom taps are:

  • Standard valves.
  • Cartridge valves.
  • Ceramic disc valves.
  • Ball mixer valve taps.
  • Single lever handle for hot and cold water.
  • Double lever handles for bath fillers.

A standard valve is one that uses a body made of ceramic and a rotating disc to control water flow.

It simply directs the water from the spout or showerhead, through the middle hole, and out into the sink/bathtub.

These are often found in older bathrooms as they function much as faucets have for many years. The rotating disc is the main difference, being able to control water flow more precisely than previous options.

Discover the best bathroom faucet for hard water in 2017. You might be wondering:

What is a bathroom faucet?

A bathroom sink or washbasin is actually called a basin, and it is where you place your hands and face to shower or shave. It has a drain that takes care of unwanted water.

Also, there are two faucets that supply water and help control temperature and pressure when taking baths or showers.

This article deals with just the single handle type of faucet.

The most popular fixture used by homeowners today is the bathroom sink Faucet for Hard Water.

The sink is also known as a lavatory basin, a washbowl, a corvette, an ewer, or simply a bowl. The drainer is known as a basin or ewer sink.

A faucet is also called a tap, or just simply a spigot when it comes down to the bathroom sink in your washroom. A handle attached to this spigot turns on and off the water supply.

What is a bathroom faucet?

The word “Spigot” comes from earlier times, such as when pots were used for washing instead of basins.

Back then, “spigots” were used to open and close containers like pitchers and buckets where running water was useful during that time period only.

Today, we use faucets most of the time since they are more convenient than jars ever could be!

Both handles and sprayers come with different features, designs, and colors. They are made from a variety of materials too, such as those that are contemporary or traditional. And many models come with additional features like a water filter attached to the sprayer head.

You might also be interested in how much it costs to install this fixture if you do not want to change its position or location every now and then for whatever reasons.

How Do You Know Which One Is The Best Faucet For Hard Water?

You have several things worth considering when choosing the best faucet for hard water:

1. Style: If you need a new one, you must think about the style you want. Do you prefer a simple contemporary look? Or maybe traditional or modern design is more appealing to you?

You can purchase a faucet with different handle options too such as single handles that come in either vertical or horizontal shape. They also provide sprayers attached to them. Besides these items, be sure to check out other features of the item that might be included such as color-changing LED lights which make your bathroom brighter and prettier.

2. Material: The material used in faucets for hard water can determine how well it will perform its functions over time as well as its ease of installation. Some are better made than others so they do not need much maintenance in the long run.

Also, consider the material of your faucet’s finish or coating that is applied to the surfaces. Many manufacturers use copper while others opt for brass as well as nickel and chrome-plated options. Whatever option you choose, be sure it can last through wear and tear in the long run.

3. Price: Your bathroom fixture must also have a price tag that matches its features too so you will not have issues with compatibility once you decide which one will fit your budget requirements perfectly. However, there are many online stores that offer some discounts on their products so be sure to check them first before making a purchase!

4. Water Pressure: The best faucet type is none other than the one that has a great water pressure control so that you can help save the environment at its most by reducing your amount of hot water consumption.

This is important if you have kids in the house since their baths will surely consume a lot of water when they take them. As for adults, getting a faucet with excellent flow control is also important especially if you are prone to “hectic” mornings!

5. Warranty: There are some manufacturers that include limited warranties on their bathroom sink fixtures including parts and labor protection in case something goes wrong before or after purchasing such fittings. This means fewer maintenance costs and more savings for you later on too, which makes this feature worth considering indeed!

For those who want to save money, here’s what you should do:

1. Choose faucets made from solid brass materials such as those that come from the “Bonnet” series, for instance. They are durable and strong compared to most other alternatives available on the market today! The finish is smooth to the touch so you can expect this type of plastic or metal material to last for several years without showing signs of wear and tear too easily.

2. Opt for a sprayer with an advanced water pressure control feature built-in since it’s one of the best ways to get your money’s worth out of the item long term. You might want to purchase them separately too if you want more options and better features during your search which will save you some time because many models have it but the package deals generally come with it included.

3. If you want to save money in the long run, then go for brass materials instead because they are durable and sturdy enough to last a lifetime! However, there are some that tarnish or show signs of wear and tear after just one year of use so be sure to check first how well these items will withstand the test of time by reading reviews from those who have purchased them before.

4. Consider buying a faucet made from ceramic since they do not contain nickel which can cause allergies in some people or even cancer! This type of material is even sturdy enough to last for several years without showing any signs of rusting, peeling, chipping, or scratching too easily. Plus, they are usually polished to a stunning shine so you can help beautify your bathroom by installing one of these in no time at all!

5. Do more research before making any purchase online or offline as well since it will be worth the effort for sure. Take the time to know the right locations that offer some great discounts on their products so you can save even more money when purchasing your fittings too.

6. Consider buying from online stores only because this is where you will find many deals and coupons for such bathroom fixtures too which will surely attract buyers like yourself who are looking to spend less but see better results long term too! Make sure to look into this option first before doing anything else since it could definitely help those who want to save money on their fittings.

How Do You Clean A Bathroom Faucet?

Cleaning a bathroom faucet is as easy as applying antibacterial hand sanitizer to your hands! The hardest part of cleaning a bathroom faucet is remembering to do it… but once you get started, the process will be so quick and easy, you’ll wonder why you waited so long.

In a couple of hours, I had all three bathroom faucets shining and looking like the day they were installed… plus my hands didn’t smell like antibacterial hand sanitizer!  This process removes dirt, mildew, and lime buildup without scratching the finish or leaving any sticky residue.

What You Need:  A water-dampened toothbrush, a faucet brush with a flexible neck or an old toothbrush you don’t mind cutting up, and an all-purpose cleaner. I used Kaboom! bathroom cleaner because it is the only thing that works on my well water (and I’ve tried most of them!).  A roll of paper towels.

1. Spray all the visible areas with your all-purpose cleaner and let it sit for a minute or two while you remove the aerator from your faucet (the metal thing that looks like a butterfly). It’s easy to unscrew with a pair of pliers if you need to… it just unscrews counter-clockwise.

2. Take an old toothbrush or a faucet brush with a flexible neck (be careful with the soft ones) and scrub inside the aerator. You’ll be amazed at what you find—so much dirt, which is probably why your water is so hard! It’s easy to rinse off and the water will stop flowing when you have removed as much dirt as possible.

3. If your faucet still has hard water buildup (and it probably does) after removing the aerator, unscrew the cap and remove the handle. Then take your toothbrush or faucet brush with a flexible neck and scrub out all of those areas—the threads where you screw everything together, under the cap, inside the handle… everywhere you can reach

4. Now that your faucet is sparkling clean inside and out, reassemble it by reading each part carefully so nothing gets installed backward (which is pretty easy to do at this point!). Make sure not to over-tighten anything because if something doesn’t fit right, it will be hard to get apart.

5. Reinstall the aerator and fill your sink with warm soapy water. Insert the faucet (don’t forget those O-rings! You can purchase replacement ones at most hardware stores) and turn on each water supply until the soap runs out of the faucet. Then wipe all visible areas dry with a paper towel and flush it through one more time to make sure no dirt is trapped in there anymore! Dry off your shiny new faucet handle with a microfiber cloth… because that’s what I used instead of paper towels 🙂

Why Do You Need Hard Water Resistant Bathroom Faucets?

“Washing dishes by hand (or on the delicate cycle in your dishwasher) can damage them more quickly than you may realize—especially if you have hard water. Hard water leaves mineral deposits that build up inside faucets and fixtures and bake onto those dirty plates. You’re simply trading one set of scratches for another when you use a harsh cleanser and steel wool to scrub marks off.”

“But don’t go tossing your dishes in the trash just yet: There is a fix for this hard-water problem. The simplest solution is to buy dishwasher-safe plates, pots, and utensils (check out retailers like Crate & Barrel and Sur La Table). You can also install a filter on your sink faucet or showerhead that will significantly reduce the amount of calcium, magnesium, and iron in your water (just be sure it’s made of stainless steel—other metals can react with the water).”

How do I protect my hard water faucets?

In the course of normal use, hard water will result in a build-up on your shower head and faucets. This can cause some serious problems for you if you don’t take proper steps to prevent it. In addition, this buildup is unsightly – something that we’re all trying to avoid these days!

No matter what method you select (and we’ll cover several), there are five common approaches for cleaning off the buildup and keeping it from coming back:

  • 1) Remove deposits with vinegar or lemon juice.
  • 2) Use baking soda and vinegar.
  • 3) Use an anti-calc spray every 3 months.
  • 4) Buy a special cleaner that protects against limescale buildup.
  • 5) Use the toilet bowl cleaner approach.

What is Lime Scale?

It’s a natural result of hard water and one that you’ll have to deal with in your home. It’s unsightly but more importantly, it can clog your faucets and cause some serious plumbing problems for you down the road if you don’t take care of it now!

In addition, limescale buildup on shower heads can make showers less efficient as well as less enjoyable because the deposits will collect dirt quickly and be harder to clean than normal.

So how do you keep your faucets free from limescale – or at least slow its progress? Here are a few suggestions:

Use Vinegar or lemon juice: Take some white vinegar (any amount you wish) and put it in a spray bottle. Just spray your faucets down with vinegar and wipe them clean. Or, if you’re more of a lemon juice fan, you can use that in the same way and have the same effect on those faucets.

For this method to work, you do need to scrub hard water deposits off the surface first. In addition, this method is only temporary at best – so make sure to clean your shower heads once every week or two for maximum results!

What is a limescale faucet?

Use baking soda and vinegar: Mix up 6 tablespoons of baking soda with 1/4 cup white vinegar in a plastic bowl (don’t use metal).

Use an old toothbrush (and will make quick work out of the job). To make a paste, you can either shake or stir the mixture up until it’s smooth. Then, just apply to your faucets and scrub as hard as you need to get them looking new again!

The spray approach: An anti-calc spray like Lime Away will work for short periods of time if applied properly (and used correctly).

Follow the directions on the package and expect four months to a year worth of protection depending on how much water flows through your lines in that time period. I don’t recommend this method because overuse can damage delicate rubber parts at some point – so use it sparingly and only when necessary.

Buy special cleaner: The most expensive but arguably best is Watkins brand cleaner. This will prevent the build-up and help keep your faucets looking great. Apply per package directions to both faucets every three months for optimal results.

Toilet bowl cleaner: If the spray approach isn’t working out, you can buy a toilet bowl cleaner like Clorox Clean-Up (red label) from any store. Put some of it in a plastic cup or small bucket with water and apply with an old toothbrush to your shower head and other hard water deposits.

Then just rinse them off when finished and enjoy! The downside is that this method may darken your areas where you applied it slightly but use this solution sparingly if that’s an issue for you!

Keep your faucets as clean as you can for as long as you can so that they remain in great shape and continue to look fantastic. Take care of the build-up now so that you don’t have to worry about it later!

Frequently Asked Questions for Hard Water Resistant Bathroom Faucets

How do I choose the right faucet without compromising water flow and pressure?

When one thinks about choosing a new faucet for their kitchen or bathroom, the first consideration should be functionality. The next thought is usually going to be beauty and price.

Last on the list is how sustainable it is, but let’s not forget that renewable resources are here for our use as long as we take care of them. So, to keep nice faucets on the market and in the home, we must put sustainability at least one step above price.

Is the finish of the faucet an important factor to consider?

Measuring the water flow and pressure is really a two-fold issue to consider.

The first thing you need to determine in your mind is how much water you use on average for each task that you do in the kitchen.

Do you fill pots with water, or are your tasks more limited? If they are more limited, then your needs are going to be smaller.

Why does my faucet keeps getting blocked?

The faucet is a fixture in every home and business. It allows for easy access to water supply and can be used as an alternative source of drinking water. But even the sturdiest-looking faucets must also undergo regular maintenance, which may include routine cleaning or repairing.

Disassembling a traditional wall-mounted faucet is not difficult, as long as you have a screwdriver. Cleaning out the grime or debris from its internal parts can be challenging if you do it on your own. If you are unsure about the proper steps to follow, hire a plumber instead.

Is the faucet design important?

Many people have much concerned about the design of their faucets. The reason is that they think it can affect how they wash their hands, especially for children and elders who may not be aware of this factor. Of course, there are many faucet designs you can choose from, from modern designs to classic ones.

You might ask why should I give importance to this factor when we don’t even see it much, especially when our hands are under the water and focused on doing other things. Well, here is good news for you, though there is not a single piece of evidence that this is true, there is a study that says this statement has no solid foundation.

What is the faucet’s average lifespan?

Since your faucet is made of metal, it will corrode eventually. Most manufacturers recommend replacing the faucet after 10 years or as soon as you start to notice signs of visible deterioration.

You should also replace any parts that are visibly worn or malfunction if you want to avoid paying a plumber for a repair job.
